Governor orders flags lowered to honor fallen airman

OHIO — Gov. Mike DeWine ordered U.S. and Ohio flags flown at half-staff at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, Rhodes State Office Tower and public spaces in Licking County Saturday, Dec. 16, to honor Air Force Senior Airman Brian Kody Johnson of Reynoldsburg, according to a press release.

Johnson was one of eight service members who died as a result of an Osprey aircraft crash off the coast of Japan during a training mission late last month. The 32 year old from Reynoldsburg, Ohio, was a flight engineer assigned to the 21st Special Opoerations Squadron, 353rd Special Operation Wing, Yokota Air Base in Japan. His funeral is Saturday.

President Joe Biden said he and first lady Jill Biden were heartbroken by the loss of the Osprey crew.
